Wax and its accessoiries

Beeswax is the secretion product of the wax glands of the worker bees. These eight wax glands are arranged in pairs underneath four of the abdomen rings. They secrete small wax flakes that are brought to the mouth with the paws, chewed, mixed with saliva and ready for making the wax comb.
The wax production in a bee colony depends on the need for building. To produce wax, the temperature must be high enough and there must be enough food in the nest. It is generally believed that about 10 kg of food is required to produce one kilogram of wax.

At Bijenhof, the beeswax is processed with the most modern machines, so that it retains its natural aroma and is 100% pure and free from all germs.
The wax is available in various standard sizes: Dadant-Blatt, Simplex, German standard, Langstroth, Kempisch, Voirnot. Other sizes are available on request.

Wax melters

The solar wax melter naturally owes its name to the sun! This is the most economical and ecological way to recover your wax. Thanks to the solar energy, the air under the glass heats up and the wax melts from the frames. The melted wax runs down into a stainless steel container. The wax solidifies in this and forms a wax block.

The steam wax melter, on the other hand, works on the principle of heat by means of fire, creating a cloud of steam that primarily disinfects the frames and also melts the wax from the frames.
